In an interview with "Gazeta.Ru," the service and spare parts director of "Avilon Mercedes-Benz," Alexey Balashov, spoke about the most useless options that many drivers refuse to use.
Logo Backlighting
The impressive projection of a logo on the ground looks stylish, especially in the dark. However, as Balashov noted, this option does not provide any real benefit. It does not enhance safety and does not affect driving comfort in any way. Meanwhile, the cost of a car with such a "decoration" increases, and its energy consumption rises.
Auto Parking
The automatic parking feature is a popular example of a high-tech system that promises to make life easier for car owners. But in practice, according to experts, auto parkers work slowly and take more time than traditional parking. Many drivers prefer to do without this option, as they trust their skills more than the car's automation.
Gesture Control
The ability to control the multimedia system with a wave of the hand seems like a step into the future. However, in reality, gesture control systems often misinterpret commands and require repetition of gestures. This quickly becomes annoying and distracts the driver from the road. Balashov noted that such functions irritate more than they assist.
Cabin Aromatization
Some cars offer built-in aromatization systems that allow changing scents in the cabin. Despite the enticing concept, many drivers consider this option useless. The scents tend to be overly intrusive, and the cost of replacing special cartridges sometimes makes one question the feasibility of using them.
