Research data shows that this year, the reliability indicators for electric vehicles have worsened by 42% compared to ICE vehicles. Last year, this indicator was 79%. The situation has improved for plug-in hybrids. If last year the unreliability rate was 146%, this year it was only 70%.

The popular Tesla ranked only 17th in brand reliability, which takes into account the average level of problems. Owners of the American brand's electric cars reported issues with build quality, including bodywork, paint and trim, noises and leaks, as well as problems with electrical accessories, according to the organization's report.

American Ford was represented by several models, but the most unreliable was the F-150 Hybrid, which ranked 13th in the study. In last place, 22nd, was the American Rivian, while Japanese manufacturers—Subaru and Lexus – Toyota topped the rankings.

Jake Fisher, senior director of the Consumer Reports Auto Testing Center, reminded that before making a purchasing decision, it is extremely important to assess the reliability of specific models.

The Consumer Reports survey covers 20 potentially problematic parts of a car, including the engine, electric motors, transmission, and automotive electronics. The organization keeps data on more than 330,000 vehicles from the 2000 to 2024 model years.
